- How do we protect the complexity of human experience from being reduced to next-token statistics?
- What values should AI carry when it begins to exert real influence on the world in 10–20 years?
- What are we doing about the fact that models are losing their capacity for original thought and genuine wonder?
The Humanist’s Role
The humanist is not here to replace the engineer or write code. Their role is different and equally vital: to guard the North Star — the ultimate direction and purpose.
They must defend what is most valuable in the human experience. They must demand that AI be not only efficient and safe, but also worthy of trust.
Without a humanist perspective in the design of goals, values, evaluation mechanisms, and model constitutions, we risk creating machines that are ever more technically perfect but increasingly hollow — spiritually and intellectually impoverished.
Leave AI to the humanists.
Not exclusively.
